Job Title
High-Level Responsibilities
Major Duties:
- Provides coverage for other ANMs as needed.
- Responsible and accountable for the direction and oversight of specific orientation, training, development of staff, and evaluation of individual staff performance.
- Functions as a role model, educator, practitioner, and leader.
- Influences care outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team to remove barriers and implement new evidence-based cutting-edge programs/processes.
- Serving as the first line supervisor of nursing personnel in the patient care area ensuring the head nurse/NM retains VA Handbook 5007 requirements.
- Approving schedules and leave for employees under their direct supervision.
- Appraising performance, recommending performance standards, and recommending performance awards for employees under their direct supervision.
- Serving as hiring official during the recruitment process for employees under their direct supervision
- Recommending proposed discipline or grievance adjustments for employees under their direct supervision.
- Drafting schedules and leave for final approval by the NM
- Providing input into the performance of employees with the final evaluation completed by the NM
- Assisting with making recommendations for selection of candidates for employment
- Applying clinical knowledge/judgment to lead staff involvement in planning, decision making, and evaluating outcomes; providing feedback to the NM who ultimately ensures nursing personnel provide timely nursing care that complies with generally accepted standards of practice
- Overseeing work assignments and providing reports of contact or assisting with fact findings as needed to provide the NM with the information necessary to make recommendations for counseling and/or disciplinary actions

Pay:
