Clinic Nurse (RN) - Palliative Care
The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center - James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute's (OSUCCC-James) mission is to improve health in Ohio and across the world through innovation in research, education, and patient care. The team provides patient care and supportive services directed towards achievement of positive patient care outcomes, maximizing the patient's involvement in their own plan of care, and reducing the length of hospitalization, the clinic nurse plays a critical role in staff engagement, the patient experience, quality and safety, and cost-effective care.
Position Summary
The Clinic Nurse is responsible for managing and providing care to the patient and their family, and for directing and supervising nursing care provided by other members of the patient care team. The Clinic Nurse is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, coordinating, delegating, and evaluating the nursing care of patients in alignment with the professional practice model.
Required Qualifications
Degree in Nursing from a CCNE (Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education) or Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) accredited nursing program required. Current Ohio license or interim permit.
* Experience in relevant care setting preferred.
Provide specialized, patient-centered nursing care to individuals with serious and chronic illnesses in an outpatient palliative care setting. Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team including physicians, advanced practice providers, social workers, pharmacists, and chaplains to manage complex symptoms, improve quality of life, and support patients and families throughout the disease trajectory. Responsibilities include comprehensive assessment, symptom management, care coordination, patient and family education, advance care planning, medication management, and facilitating goals-of-care discussions.
Deliver compassionate, evidence-based care while advocating for patient preferences and promoting comfort, dignity, and holistic wellbeing.
