American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Operating Room position requiring 4 years of OR experience with Neurology, Transplant, General Surgery, GYN, and Orthopedic specialties.
Details- Hospital-based Operating Room unit
- Service lines include Bariatrics, Urology, Neurology, ENT, Oral, Plastics, Transplant, Ophthalmology, General Surgery, GYN, and Orthopedics
- Day shift schedule with 3x12 hour shifts from 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM
- 16-week assignment length
- Variable weekend requirements to be discussed during interview
- Variable call requirements to be discussed during interview
- Floating required within facility and scope of practice, as well as to Outpatient as needed
- Epic charting system experience required
- Active RN license (GA or Compact) required at time of consideration
- Current BLS certification required
- Minimum of 4 years of Operating Room experience required prior to travel
- Experience required in Neurology, Transplant, General Surgery, GYN, and Orthopedic surgical specialties
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Community hospital experience preferred
- Trauma Level I experience preferred
- Trauma Level II experience preferred
- Skills required include gynecological procedures (hysterectomy, colporrhaphy, tubal ligation, D&C, laparoscopic procedures), neurological procedures (ALIF, craniotomy, kyphoplasty, laminectomy/discectomy, lumbar fusion, XLIF), general surgery procedures (appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection, hernia repair, thyroidectomy, Whipple), and orthopedic procedures (arthroscopy, closed/open reduction of fractures, total joint replacement)
- Experience with transplant work settings including intestinal, kidney, liver, organ donation, and pancreas procedures required
- First-time travelers not accepted for this unit
- Perform circulating and scrub duties across a wide range of surgical specialties
- Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, must be finalized at time of submission
- No RTO or schedule requests can be made after offer or onsite
- Holiday coverage required with no holiday RTO approved if 1-2 major holidays fall during the assignment
- If 3 major holidays fall during the assignment, one holiday RTO request may be considered
- Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, and New Year's Eve/Day
- Blackout dates for RTO include 11/23-11/29 and 12/21-1/3
- Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate
- Shift and contract length are firm with no alternate schedule requests permitted
- Full compliance required to start on time, as non-compliance results in a two-week delay due to biweekly orientation scheduling
- Returning employees or per diem staff must be away from all facilities within the health system for one full year before applying as a traveler
- Travelers who previously cancelled or were not approved for return must complete one assignment outside the health system before reapplying
