American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Step Down Cardiology position requiring ACLS certification and 18 months of specialty experience within the past 3 years.

• Work in the Cardiology Step Down unit of a hospital environment
• Unit functions similarly to an ICU but is classified as an advanced PCU based on staffing ratios
• Cares for post-CABG cardiac surgery patients within 24 hours of surgery, including chest tube management
• Patients may have LVADs; facility provides LVAD training course
• Ventilator management is not required for this role
• Patient ratio is 1:4 or 1:5
• Night shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts totaling 36 hours per week
• No on-call responsibilities
• New assignments available starting every Monday
• 13-week contract length

• Active GA or Compact RN license required in hand
• ACLS certification required
• Minimum 18 months of experience in the specialty within the past 3 years required
• Must complete a proctored rhythm identification test upon starting (non-multiple choice, two attempts allowed)
• Ventilator experience not required

• Provide post-surgical cardiac care to patients recovering from CABG procedures
• Navy blue scrubs required
• Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility; local candidates are not eligible
• Former Emory or Houston permanent staff must be separated for at least 1 year before returning to the health system, or 18 months if returning to the same facility
