Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for an Operating Room position requiring 4 years of OR experience and specialized surgical service line expertise.

Details
  • Work in the Operating Room unit of a hospital environment
  • Service lines include Bariatrics, Urology, Neurology, ENT, Oral, Plastics, Transplant, Ophthalmology, General Surgery, GYN, and Orthopedics
  • Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM
  • Variable weekend and call requirements discussed during interview
  • Floating required within facility and scope of practice, including to Outpatient as needed
  • Uses Epic charting system
Requirements
  • Active RN license (GA state or Compact) required at time of consideration
  • Current BLS certification required
  • Minimum 4 years of Operating Room experience required prior to travel
  • Required experience in Neurology, Transplant, General Surgery, GYN, and Orthopedic surgical specialties
  • Specific surgical skills required across Gynecology (hysterectomy, colporrhaphy, tubal ligation, D&C, laparoscopic procedures), Neurology (ALIF, craniotomy, kyphoplasty, laminectomy/discectomy, lumbar fusion, XLIF), General Surgery (appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection, hernia repair, thyroidectomy, Whipple), and Orthopedics (arthroscopy, fracture reduction, total joint replacement, laminectomy/discectomy)
  • Transplant experience required including intestinal, kidney, liver, organ donation, and pancreas cases
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Teaching hospital, community hospital, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
  • Two supervisory references (Manager level or above) highly preferred at time of consideration
Additional Information
  • Perform circulating and scrub duties across multiple surgical service lines
  • This is a sensitive unit and candidates should thoroughly review all unit and job details before proceeding
  • First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
  • No shift or schedule requests are permitted; the posted shift is firm
  • Travel pairs cannot be assigned to the same shift on the same unit
  • Full compliance required to start on time; non-compliance may result in a two week delay due to biweekly orientation scheduling
  • Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, and all RTO must be finalized at the time of consideration
  • No RTO can be requested during orientation week or after offer/onsite
  • No holiday RTO approved if one or two major holidays occur during the assignment; if three major holidays occur, one holiday RTO request may be considered
  • Blackout dates apply for RTO:
    November 23-29 and December 21-January 3
  • Major holidays include Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, and New Year's Eve/Day
  • Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate
  • Former Piedmont perm, per diem, or FCSS staff must be away from all Piedmont facilities for one full year before applying as a traveler
  • Travelers who cancelled or received a facility DNR must complete one assignment outside Piedmont before reapplying
