Salary: $16.00 hourly

Job Description

A visit from a Play Mobile highlights any event, especially when a group might not have access to a Park or Recreational Facility nearby. Mobile Recreation travels throughout City of Atlanta providing equipment and instructional activities for community events, including arts and crafts, sports and fitness activities, health fairs, and summer camp celebrations. The Play Mobile enhances Parks-sponsored events such as summer festivals, Popsicles in the Park, Movies in the Parks, and council member events (e.g., Egg hunts, backpack giveaways, non‑campaigning events).

Parks & Recreation Summer Program Counselor - Play Mobile Posting Expires:
Open Until Filled Major Responsibilities
  • Organize free and innovative activities in parks and playgrounds for children and their families. Activities include sports, fitness, outdoor adventure, games, arts and crafts, and special events.
  • Engage the community by organizing recreational programming and special events.
  • Distribute, collect, and perform minor repairs and adjustments to athletic equipment and play materials, including demonstration of their use.
  • Inspect play areas and report evidence of unsafe or hazardous conditions; cordon off or remove hazardous equipment.
  • Ensure proper health and safety standards of playgrounds by removing broken glass, litter, or other hazardous materials.
  • Uphold discipline and prevent disturbances in the recreational area.
  • Maintain a neat and organized vehicle; track and maintain inventory and equipment; keep accurate records.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Two summer seasons or 6 months of experience as an instructor, counselor, or coach in an organized recreation program.
  • Completion of 30 college credits from an accredited institution.
  • Equivalent education and experience as described above.
  • Valid Georgia Driver’s License.
Preferred Skills/Qualifications
  • Experience working with children.
  • Available to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
