The Seed Quality Lab Technician will work closely with the Seed Quality Lab Manager to perform tasks for the seed quality lab focusing on germination, purity and trait verification.

• Perform the following in the Seed Quality Lab as needed:
  • Subsampling seed for lab tests
  • Independently follow instructions to prepare lab test media, including but not limited to sand/soil mixing and sifting, tray preparation, and herbicide bioassay towel preparation
  • Independently follow instructions to complete germination, vigor, purity, and herbicide bioassay testing
  • Interpret lab results from each test and recording each result
  • Data entry of test results into the lab data management system
• Maintaining and cleaning of work areas
• Assist with other duties as required by the Seed Quality Lab Manager

• Associates or Bachelor’s degree in related fields and/or Seed Lab experience, preferred
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent, required
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and insurable driving record as determined by Beck’s automobile insurance policy

• Excellent written and verbal communications skills
• Possesses a positive attitude
• Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and work as a team member
• High-level attention to detail, organized, and be able to consistently deliver timely and accurate results
• Proficiency with computers, Microsoft Office and spreadsheets

• Experience in a seed testing lab is preferred, but not required

• Be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds
• Ability to stand or walk for long periods of time
