Description
Responsible for construction execution from the bidding phase to delivery of a major highway project in the Greater Atlanta area. The position of Quality Control Manager has the overall responsibility of developing, implementing, and managing the quality plan for the project, ensuring sufficient and controlled systems are in place to maintain the integrity of project plans and that operations are executed in a compliant manner.
RolePurpose
The role involves overseeing all phases of construction, from bidding through delivery, ensuring projects meet all quality and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Develop, implement, and maintain the Construction Quality Management System, including the Project Quality Management Plan (QMP).
- Oversee field Quality Control activities.
- Perform quality reports, audits, and oversee QA and QC documentation and test results.
- Ensure compliance with contract documents, the QMP, and federal, state, local, ISO 9001, and other regulatory laws and standards.
- Maintain and report quality management system records as required by the project QMP and corporate requirements.
- Manage all nonconformities at the project level and lead root‑cause analysis and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
- Attend meetings related to quality issues.
- Distribute relevant QC documentation to site subcontractors, other teams, and stakeholders.
- Verify and ensure construction site activities align with applicable codes and standards.
- Develop and implement quality training and conduct QC audits for the project and subcontractors.
- Jointly review contractual specifications of all materials with Construction and Procurement departments.
- Perform evaluations of consultants and subcontractors as specified in the QMP.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Science, or equivalent; preferred.
- Professional Engineer License required.
- Minimum of ten (10) years of progressive responsibility in a quality control manager position.
- Experience on large highway, bridge/structures, paving, and/or utility relocation projects as a contractor.
- Applicable certifications in Quality and Construction.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, SharePoint, and document control systems.
- Excellent communication, reporting, and leadership skills.
