QA/QC Manager opportunity with Traylor Industrial Required SkillsThe Project QA/QC Manager is a member of the project management team, is able to work with minimal corporate supervision and takes the lead role in managing project quality. He provides primary technical support to all team members and the crafts by managing the development and implementation of the Project Quality Plan and by research/answering questions of a technical nature. This position requires the incumbent to develop thorough knowledge of the project scope and schedule as they apply to QA/QC.
Candidate should have a four‑year engineering, science (and at least two years in a QA/QC position); or an associate degree in engineering technology or science plus four years experience in a related construction field with at least two of these years in a QA/QC position; or a high school graduate or equivalent (OED) plus ten years experience in a related construction field (at least four of these years In a QA/QC position).
Candidate must have broad working knowledge of all crafts and their associated special processes, inspection, and testing techniques. Also, shall have working knowledge of construction industry codes (ACI, API, AWS, ASME, NEC, etc.). Certifications from AWS, ACI, API, ASNT, NACE, etc. are preferred.
- Organize and maintain project QA/QC files.
- Have a thorough knowledge of Traylor's quality procedures and manual.
- Plan and coordinate QA/QC activities with construction activities.
- Manage and evaluate implementation and effectiveness of the Project Quality Plan.
- Promote and maintain effective communications and relations (verbally and in writing) with Traylor corporate management and project management teams, and the engineer/client as required.
- Provide training to supervision and crafts.
- May be called upon to oversee QA/QC on multiple projects.
- Assist and oversee development of a Project Quality Plan which addresses the client's Quality requirements.
- Conduct periodic reviews to confirm implementation of the Plan, document findings and take corrective actions to address any shortcomings.
- Perform inspections and tests as required.
- Develop and maintain a liaison with clients' QA/QC representatives.
- Be a liaison with third party testing agencies.
- Be involved in and provide QA/QC input to task planning.
- Ensure that tests are performed at the correct time and that test results are received and interpreted timely so that impacts due to failures are minimized.
- Ensure that cost of rework is tracked and documented.
- Provide training to lower level QA/QC Managers and as applicable to supervisors and crafts.
- Answer questions and resolve problems of a technical nature.
- Ensure that files of welders' certifications and welders' status logs are maintained and submitted to Regional QA/QC monthly.
- Perform all other job related duties as requested by supervisor. Use effective verbal and written communication skills. Add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers and fractions rapidly and accurately.
- Read and understand plans and specifications. Visualize two dimensional drawings in three dimensions.
- With regard to that portion of the work assigned, develop complete understanding of contract plans and specifications.
- Examine/inspect field conditions and identify problems, inaccuracies, and cost saving measures that arise or that may be encountered. Take corrective actions as needed.
- Inspect subordinates' work for compliance with the contract plans and specifications, point out deficiencies and explain and take any corrective action needed.
- Listen to other employee's and supervisor’s suggestions, complaints, problems, safety concerns and recommendations, evaluate each and then devise and implement a plan of action based on that evaluation.
- Observe functioning of installed equipment or systems to determine hazards and need for adjustments, relocation or replacement.
- Occasionally lift and carry heavy items weighing 40 pounds or more.
- Move in and around confined and cluttered places, and uneven areas. Full range of motion and flexibility consistent with age.
