Manager, Quality – San Diego, CA – Energy Conversion Solutions

The Manager of Quality directs and coordinates activities to develop and implement a compliant and cost‑effective quality system that ensures products and services are reliable and safe, including continuous improvement projects, ISO
9001, calibration, counterfeit avoidance, customer investigations, and operational excellence initiatives. The role works collaboratively with all departments and customers to identify and prioritize tasks required to achieve business goals and objectives, ensuring employee and customer satisfaction through effective management and execution of processes.

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Lead team building, identify resource gaps, and collaborate with Human Resources to develop personal development plans for the Quality department.
  • Provide leadership and direction to Incoming Inspection, In‑process Inspection, Supplier Quality, Manufacturing Quality Engineering, Customer Quality Assurance, and Calibration teams.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to create and manage final and process yield improvement initiatives.
  • Support Product Development, Operations, Engineering, and Manufacturing in resolving technical issues by implementing corrective and preventive actions and reporting status.
  • Manage ISO
    9001 internal audits and customer audits.
  • Maintain quality systems in compliance with ISO
    9001, AS9001, and NADCAP guidelines.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal procedures for product designs and manufacturing processes.
  • Promote the use of diagnostic and predictive quality tools, including SPC, statistical analysis, Lean, and Six‑Sigma.
  • Establish corrective/preventive action systems to improve operational performance and meet customer requirements.
  • Design and implement quality control/assurance training programs for key personnel.
  • Manage supplier quality activities and collaborate with Procurement on supplier quality assurance.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum 10 years in Quality, including 3 years in a leadership role, ideally in electronics manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of quality engineering disciplines, statistics; ASQ Certified Quality Engineer preferred.
  • Proven record of quality system implementations and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong customer communication, conflict resolution, and negotiation skills.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency with MS PowerPoint, Excel, Word, ERP system, and QMS software.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in power supply or test & measurement industry.
Education Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Quality Management, Operations, or Industrial Engineering.
