About Georgia Tech

The Histology Core Laboratory is housed within the Institute for Bioengineering and Bioscience (IBB).

• Conduct experiments and research activities according to established protocols and methodologies to ensure the integrity and accuracy of data collected.
• Prepare and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring that all instruments are calibrated and functioning properly to support ongoing research projects.
• Collect, record, and analyze data meticulously, using appropriate software and statistical methods to contribute to the research findings.
• Assist in the preparation of research materials, including reagents, samples, and solutions, following precise formulations and safety protocols.
• Maintain accurate laboratory records and documentation, including experiment logs, inventory lists, and safety compliance reports, to uphold regulatory standards.
• Participate in training sessions for new laboratory personnel, providing guidance on equipment usage, safety procedures, and research protocols.
• Monitor laboratory safety practices by conducting routine inspections and ensuring compliance with institutional safety regulations and guidelines.
• Stay current on advancements in research techniques and technologies by engaging in professional development opportunities and attending relevant workshops or conferences.
• Collaborate with principal investigators and other research team members to develop project plans and timelines, ensuring that milestones are met.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Educational Requirements
  :
  Bachelor s Degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  One to two years of job-related experience

• Basic understanding of laboratory techniques related to histology, such as tissue fixation, processing, embedding, microtomy, and staining; ability to follow written protocols; operating and maintaining laboratory equipment, troubleshooting equipment and technique failures, and providing technical services for research projects; and excellence in customer service.

SKILLS
