Researching Heart Attack, Heart Failure, Stroke, Hypertension, Diabetes... With the increasing frequency of obesity and diabetes, especially in Georgia, cardiovascular disease is reaching epidemic proportions. The Vascular Biology Center at the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University knows the demand is high for new and better treatments. Our internationally recognized team of research experts have one goal - to make breakthroughs in the prevention and treatment of disease so that we all may live longer, healthier lives.

A training position designed to learn through engagement in an advanced level of scientific, technical, and administrative work in support of research efforts in an assigned laboratory focused on quantitative experimental animal and cell culture data. Participate in research data collection and documentation within relevant guidelines and protocols; develop and evaluate new research techniques and procedures; publish results in scientific journals.

Perform a variety of complex chemical, biological, cytologic, confocal microscopic, surgical, statistical/computational and dissection of mice procedures.

• Analyze results of experiments: Analyze results of experiments and procedures manually or using computational software. Perform vascular microsurgeries to model AVF, wire injury, and aortic aneurysm formation. Perform in vitro, ex vivo, and in vivo mechanism studies on VSMC phenotypic adaptation in these diseases.
• Project planning: Participate in project planning and development of research protocols while ensuring adherence to accepted scientific research principles and compliance with relevant federal guidelines.
• Scientific literature: Coordinate and participate in research of scientific literature; summarize and evaluate findings; develop derivative applications of techniques developed by own research activities or reported by other research projects.
