Job SummaryPosition responsibilities include the daily performance of complex chemical, biological, and animal/tissue preparation and testing in the research laboratory. The position will assist PI, graduate students, and post-doctoral fellows with procedures and data collection of research as well as general maintenance of laboratory resources and equipment.
Responsibilities- Perform research experiments in a laboratory setting conducting preclinical in vitro cell culture studies.
- Perform animal handling, dosing, biochemical, molecular, and microscopic imaging experimental techniques in support of current projects.
- Analyze results of experiments using manual or computer techniques, summarize and evaluate findings, and generate figures for publication.
- Perform animal breeding, maintenance, and genotyping.
- Oversee basic laboratory duties such as tracking supplies and preparing solutions.
- Perform all other job‑related duties as assigned by the PI.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and experience in a research, basic science or clinical setting particularly clinical trials research.
OR
Associate degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or other natural, life, health care or materials science directly related to the research area to which the position is assigned and a minimum of three years' experience in a research, basic science or clinical setting particularly clinical trials research.
Preferred QualificationsSome previous experience with social/behavioral science (public health) research is desirable.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities KnowledgeProficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.
SkillsExcellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Detail‑oriented with strong organizational and critical thinking skills.
AbilitiesAbility to maintain confidentiality.
Ability to use sound judgement and work independently.
Shift / Salary / Benefits- Shift: Days;
Monday - Friday (Work outside of normal business hours may be required). - Salary minimum: $17.88 hourly.
- Pay Band: B5.
- Salary to be commensurate with qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position.
- Recruitment Period:

- Full‑time employees who have been employed with us successfully for more than 6 months can be considered for the Tuition Assistance Program.
All selected candidates are required to successfully pass a Background Check review prior to starting with Augusta University.
If applicable for the specific position based on the duties: the candidate will also need to have a credit check completed for Positions of Trust and/or approved departmental Purchase Card usage.
Motor vehicle reports are required for positions that are required to drive an Augusta University vehicle.
