Research Associate – MCG-Neurosci and Reg Medicine

Job SummaryConduct research on Alzheimer’s disease, neuropsychiatric disorders, and the microbiome using transgenic mouse models. Perform drug treatment and behavioral testing, stereotactic surgery, and a variety of complex chemical, biological, and surgical procedures. Prepare and submit manuscripts, mentor junior lab members, and design research protocols with the principal investigator.
Responsibilities- Conduct Research: Perform drug treatment, behavioral testing, and standardized protocols for specimen collection and analysis.
- Procedures: Execute complex chemical, biological, cytologic, microscopic, histologic, statistical, and surgical tasks; manage transgenic mouse colony; perform small animal surgical and behavioral procedures; implement experimental improvements.
- Publications: Contribute to manuscript and grant preparation, provide figures, methods, and technical expertise; mentor lab members.
- Other: Perform all additional duties as assigned.
- Master’s degree in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology, or related fields with experience in research or basic science; experience in clinical trial research is preferred.
- OR a Bachelor’s degree in the same fields with at least three years of research or clinical experience and prior supervisory experience.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant software.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Detail‑oriented with strong prioritization and organizational skills.
- Maintain confidentiality and meet deadlines.
- Work with research animals and independently with general supervision.
Shift: Days, Monday–Friday (outside business hours may be required). Pay band B8; salary commensurate with qualifications. The position may be fully or partially funded through external sources and is contingent on availability of funds.
