Position Summary
Morehouse School of Medicine is looking for a talented Post doctoral trainee for the laboratory of the Senior Vice President, Research. The laboratory is involved in understanding the underlying molecular mechanisms of complex diseases using genomic data. The work focuses on the analysis and interpretation of sequence data from African descent patient samples, with the goal of generating the knowledge to provide improved insight on Polygenic risk scores (PRS), risk assessment and stratification, improved prognosis and ultimately improved outcomes in the population.
This person will work collaboratively with other experts in genomic data analysis, computational biology, and medicine to design, implement and refine genetic epidemiological analyses that improve our understanding of the etiology of human diseases and health.
- Apply bioinformatics tools to process, analyze, and interpret high-throughput genomic datasets.
- Apply biological and statistical knowledge to draw rigorous, actionable conclusions from complex data sets.
- Communicate findings internally and externally.
- Collaborate with groups across the institution to support research projects.
- Participate in the preparation of written reports and oral presentations summarizing data analysis results, including detailed description of methods, detailed analysis of results, and synthesis of conclusions from summary tables.
- A Ph.D. degree in life or biomedical sciences, or a related discipline.
- Data analysis skills, with a particular focus on detailed characterization of genomics and clinical datasets.
- Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment and shift priorities seamlessly.
- Experience with communicating insights and presenting concepts to diverse audiences.
- Team player mindset and ability to work in an interdisciplinary team.
- Goal‑oriented, self‑motivated, and drive to make a positive impact in healthcare.
