Post Doctoral Fellow – Division of Microbiology and Immunology
The Division of Microbiology and Immunology at the Emory National Primate Research Center in Atlanta, GA, is seeking a Post Doctoral Fellow to join the laboratory of Dr. Vijayakumar Velu. The lab conducts research on HIV-related topics, including vaccination therapy, pathogenesis, mucosal immunology, and HPV-associated cancers in people living with HIV.
Key Responsibilities- Design and conduct research projects under guidance of the Principal Investigator to develop independent research skills.
- Plan, execute, and evaluate experiments and develop new ideas that advance current projects.
- Prepare and publish scientific manuscripts in collaboration with the PI.
- Operate laboratory equipment and maintain accurate records.
- Teach techniques, train, and supervise junior research staff as needed.
- Serve as a team member and attend lab meetings with a positive, collaborative attitude.
- Doctoral degree (Ph.D., M.D., ScD., D.V.M., DDS, etc.) in a relevant field.
- Excellent scientific writing and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively and collegially with peers and collaborators.
- Additional qualifications may be required by the Principal Investigator.
- Ph.D. in Life Sciences.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Laboratory work with biohazardous blood, tissues, and exposure to potential hazards.
- Requires routine use of laboratory safety protocols, including personal protective equipment.
- Typical lab environment with occasional physical demands such as bending, kneeling, or squatting.
- Work schedule to be discussed in interview.
