Senior Research Assistant
Employment may be contingent on extramural funding and performance. The position will be terminated or reduced in percentage of appointment if such funding is not secured or ceases to be available.
Responsibilities- Assist in the design, execution, and management of research projects, ensuring alignment with study protocols.
- Develop data collection instruments.
- Collect, process, and analyze qualitative and quantitative data.
- Conduct statistical analysis and interpret experimental data using software such as SPSS, R, or SAS.
- Collaborate with team members on manuscript, abstract, and presentation preparation for publication or conferences.
- Coordinate project timelines and monitor milestone completion.
- Maintain detailed and organized records of experiments, data, and research activities.
- Ensure compliance with institutional, federal, and ethical guidelines for research.
- Support the research team with implementation of study activities, planning, and scheduling.
- Participate in recurring project meetings related to assigned functions or projects.
- Assist with preparation and submission of grant proposals and reports.
- Monitor budget expenditures and manage project funds.
- Provide guidance and training to junior research staff, students, and interns.
- Coordinate research activities and maintain quality control of data collection and documentation.
- Oversee maintenance of laboratory equipment and research tools.
- Assist with ordering supplies and manage inventory.
- Collaborate with department and institutional administration for regulatory submissions (IRB, IACUC, etc.).
- Bachelor’s degree in public health or related health or social sciences field.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience conducting quantitative, qualitative, or mixed‑method data analyses.
- Experience in data collection, analysis, and report writing.
- Proficiency with data collection and statistical software (e.g., Qualtrics, REDcap, SPSS).
- Strong interest in community‑based research and evaluation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Preferred:
Master’s degree. - Preferred:
Relevant research certifications such as CITI, HIPAA, etc. - Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
- Proficiency in research software such as SPSS, R, SAS, or related.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
