Job SummaryThe School of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences invites applications for a 2-year postdoctoral position focusing on the global and regional ocean oxygen trends and variability. This position will assess the trends and variability of the ocean oxygen content, uncertainties, and their linkages to other physical and biogeochemical variables through the coordinated intercomparison of observational datasets. This position will contribute to the Gridded Dataset Intercomparison Project (GODIP-DO, (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below).)
and there will be opportunities to collaborate with the international community of scientists.
- Analyze dissolved oxygen trends and variability and their uncertainties using observational datasets to address scientific hypotheses in collaboration with the PIs
- Engage with the GODIP project () and the SCOR working group 4D-BGC ()
- Assist the PIs in data management including formatting and verifying large observational datasets
- Develop conference presentations and manuscripts for publication in peer-review scientific journals to disseminate the outcome of the research
A doctoral degree in oceanography or related fields.
Preferred Qualifications- Scientific experiences in biogeochemistry, chemical and/or physical oceanography, physical-biogeochemical interactions, and related areas
- Excellent quantitative skills in statistical analyses, computing (e.g., python), machine learning, and/or analyses of large geophysical datasets
- Strong oral and written communication skills as evidenced in peer-review journal publications and conference presentations
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
$63,480 annually
