    Job Summary

    Provide support in the operation and maintenance of an academic or research laboratory, including performing analyses; setting up, operating, maintaining, and cleaning equipment; and managing stock of supplies. Duties are determined by assignment and unit needs. This position will interact with academic and/or research faculty, staff, and students. The position may involve advising lab users and does not have supervisory responsibilities.

    Responsibilities
    • Setup, operate, and maintain instruments and other equipment used in lab tests and experiments.
    • Order supplies and materials as required; maintain records.
    • Setup laboratory media/equipment for demonstrations.
    • May clean instruments, glassware, and other lab equipment.
    • Prepare and process laboratory samples for use in assigned tests.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
    Required Qualifications

    Educational Requirements
    High school diploma, GED certificate, or vocational school diploma

    Required Experience
    Up to two years of job-related experience

    Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

    Skills
    Working knowledge of instrumentation and lab equipment, laboratory processes and procedures specific to the assigned lab. Skills in inventory management and use of specialized computer applications are required.
