* What You Will Do:
** Guidehouse is seeking a Health Scientist — Senior Associate to support a federal public health surveillance program focused on neurological conditions. This role will support scientific, epidemiologic, and surveillance activities that help a federal health client maintain, refine, routinize, expand, and disseminate population-based surveillance information. The Health Scientist will work as part of a multidisciplinary team supporting neuroepidemiology, surveillance science, data analytics, scientific documentation, dissemination, and research translation.
The role will help translate complex evidence, data, methods, and analytic findings into high-quality scientific products that support public health decision-making, research, and practice.
Responsibilities may include:
• Support neuroepidemiology and surveillance science activities related to neurological condition surveillance, including Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis, and potential future neurological conditions.
• Conduct systematic, targeted, and rapid literature reviews to support surveillance methods, case definition development, evidence gap identification, and research prioritization.
• Support the development, refinement, documentation, and application of case definitions, surveillance methods, abstraction tools, decision rules, and review protocols.
• Review, synthesize, and interpret scientific literature, surveillance evidence, analytic findings, and data outputs to support surveillance estimates and public health products.
• Support validation studies and other epidemiologic analyses, including interpretation of findings, review of analytic outputs, quality checks, and documentation of methods and limitations.
• Collaborate with data analytics, visualization, communications, clinical neurology, and program management teams to produce scientific manuscripts, reports, presentations, tables, figures, maps, dashboards, and leadership-ready summaries.
• Support development and maintenance of SOPs, technical documentation, code annotations, abstraction guidance, publication trackers, evidence tables, quality control documentation, and knowledge management materials.
• Provide review of scientific and technical deliverables to ensure methodological rigor, consistency, clarity, and alignment with client expectations.
• Support dissemination of surveillance methods, findings, and products through manuscripts, reports, conference materials, briefings, stakeholder materials, and web-ready content.
• Coordinate with project leadership, federal client staff, subject matter experts, and multidisciplinary team members to track priorities, resolve issues, and maintain timely delivery of high-quality work products.
• Mentor or guide junior staff supporting literature review, abstraction, evidence synthesis, documentation, and surveillance-related deliverables.
• Deliver high-quality client service in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment while maintaining scientific accuracy, transparency, and reproducibility.

* What You Will Need:

* • Bachelor’s degree in public health, epidemiology, health science, biology, neuroscience, psychology, health services research, statistics, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in public health, epidemiology, surveillance, scientific research, health sciences, evidence synthesis, or federal health consulting.
• Experience supporting public health surveillance, epidemiologic research, systematic reviews, evidence synthesis, scientific writing, or applied health research.
• Experience reviewing and interpreting scientific literature, methods documentation, analytic findings, and public health data products.
• Strong writing, editing, synthesis, and quality review skills, including the ability to translate technical content into clear scientific and programmatic deliverables.
