Job Summary

The School of Chemistry and Biochemistry is looking for a temporary Computational Chemist. The role involves using and modifying a software package that generates molecular models of peptide‑nucleic acid conjugates and a second package that simulates fiber and powder diffraction patterns based on those models. Development of new code and workflow is needed to validate model structures against X‑ray diffraction data.

Responsibilities also include documenting and presenting results.

• Setup, operate and maintain instruments and other equipment used in performing lab tests and experiments.
• Order supplies and materials as required; maintain records.
• Setup laboratory media/equipment for demonstrations.
• Clean instruments, glassware and other lab equipment.
• Prepare and process laboratory samples for assigned tests.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

High school diploma, GED Certificate or Vocational School Diploma.

Up to two years of job‑related experience.

Working knowledge of laboratory instrumentation and equipment, laboratory processes and procedures, inventory management, and specialized computer applications.
