The Atlanta Fed's Community and Economic Development Department supports the central bank's mandate of stable prices and maximum employment by helping improve the economic opportunity of low- and moderate-income populations and underserved places for a stronger economy for all Americans. To this end, the Department seeks a Community and Economic Development Research Advisor/Senior Advisor to produce original quantitative research papers and reports on topics related to affordable housing, housing policy, or broader housing dynamics affecting low- and moderate-income populations.
Key Responsibilities:Research and Writing
- Leads research design and writing of quantitative research on affordable housing topics. Identifies new research opportunities and proposes a research agenda.
- Produces written reports for publication in the Department's Discussion Papers and short-form publications and may author academic journal publications as appropriate.
Engagement and Translation of Research
- Translates quantitative research into actionable insights for housing stakeholders throughout the Sixth District.
- Develops and maintains relationships with other researchers and practitioners in support of the Department's research and engagement strategy.
Monitoring and Analysis
- Through data analysis and a network of community contacts, contributes to the regular monitoring of affordable housing trends and related issues in the Sixth District.
- Briefs Bank leadership on Sixth District affordable housing trends and related issues to enhance understanding of barriers and opportunities experienced by low- and moderate-income populations.
Departmental Engagement
- Mentors Community and Economic Development analysts and staff.
- Contributes to the overall research environment by attending internal seminars and providing feedback on other's work.
Required
- Advanced degree in Public Policy, Economics, or a related quantitative social science field or commensurate research experience in an affordable housing topical area.
- Experience independently designing and completing research projects.
- Established record of applied and/or scholarly publication on topics related to affordable housing, housing policy, or broader housing dynamics affecting low- and moderate-income populations.
- Demonstrated knowledge of advanced quantitative research methods.
Preferred
- Ph.D. in Public Policy, Economics, or a related quantitative social science field.
- Experience communicating research to a broader audience of practitioners and policymakers.
