POSITION
SUMMARY:
The Atlanta Fed’s Community and Economic Development Department supports the central bank’s mandate of stable prices and maximum employment by helping improve the economic opportunity of low-and moderate-incomepopulationsand underserved placesfor a stronger economy for all Americans. To this end, the Department seeks a Community and Economic Development Research Advisor/Senior Advisortoproduceoriginalquantitativeresearch papersandreports ontopics related to affordable housing, housing policy,or broader housing dynamicsaffectinglow- and moderate-income populations.
The Advisor/Senior Advisor establishesanannual research agenda aligned withthe
Community and Economic Development mission and strategy;contributes tothe Bank's objective ofremaininga knowledge centerfor applied research by writing;gives speeches and talksto outside audiences;andcollaborateson research projects with Community and Economic Development colleagues,research economists, and other Bank staff.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Research and Writing
Leads research design and writing ofquantitativeresearch on affordable housing topics.
Identifies new research opportunities and proposesaresearch agenda.
Produces written reports for publication inthe Department’sDiscussion
Papersandshort-form publications and mayauthor academic journal publications as appropriate.
Engagement and Translation of Research
Translates quantitative research into actionable insights for housing stakeholders throughout the Sixth District.
Develops and maintains relationships with other researchers and practitionersinsupportthe Department's research and engagement strategy.
Monitoring and Analysis
Through data analysis and a network of community contacts,contributes tothe regular monitoring of affordable housing trends andrelatedissues in the Sixth District.
Briefs Bank leadership on Sixth District affordable housing trends andrelatedissuesto enhance understanding of barriers and opportunities experienced bylow-and moderate-income populations.
Departmental Engagement
Mentors Community and Economic Development analysts and staff.
Contributes to the overall research environment byattendinginternalseminarsandproviding feedback on other’s work.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Required
Advanced degree inPublic
Policy,Economics, or a relatedquantitativesocial science fieldor commensurateresearchexperience inanaffordable housing topical area.
Experienceindependentlydesigning and completing research projects.
Established record of applied and/or scholarly publication on topics related to affordable housing, housing policy, or broader housing dynamics affecting low- and moderate-income populations.
Demonstrated knowledge of advanced quantitativeresearchmethods.
Preferred
Ph.D.in Public Policy, Economics, or a related quantitative social science field.
Experience communicating research to a broader audience of practitioners and policymakers.
