As a Line Cook at Atlanta Mission, you play a vital role in supporting our guests and residents by preparing nutritious, high-quality meals in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. Your work helps create a welcoming and dignified dining experience while supporting the daily operations of our residential programs and ministry services.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities- Prepare and cook a wide variety of meals for 300+ individuals per service, ensuring quality, consistency, and timeliness
- Follow established recipes while exercising sound judgment and creativity when ingredient substitutions are necessary
- Prepare individual components of menu items according to daily production schedules
- Adhere to serving portion sizes and standardized meal prep procedures
- Set up and break down kitchen workstations efficiently to meet scheduled meal service times
- Maintain food preparation and storage areas in compliance with established sanitation, safety, and health standards
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and dining areas throughout each shift
- Collaborate with and support clients, temporary staff, and volunteers during food preparation and service
- Monitor product freshness and rotate inventory using the FIFO (First In, First Out) method
- Organize, distribute, and properly store food and kitchen inventory
- Provide leadership and direction to clients, temps, and volunteers in the absence of the Kitchen Supervisor
- Assist with loading food and supplies onto transport vehicles for lunch and dinner service

- Minimum of 1 year of food service or commercial kitchen experience
- Working knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods, including grilling, baking, boiling, and batch cooking
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen environment
- Flexibility with menus and meal preparation, with the ability to problem-solve when ingredients or supplies are limited
- Willingness and ability to receive and apply instruction, feedback, and coaching
- Clean Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) required
- Ability to stand for extended periods, lift kitchen supplies, and perform physical tasks associated with food service
- Serv Safe certification preferred
- Valid Driver's License
- Ability to stand for eight hours or more a day
- Must be able to communicate accurate information
- Must be able to occasionally lift up to 50lbs
- Comfortable working in both hot kitchen environments and cold, cooler, and freezer environments.
