Shortage Control Associate

Join our team and help create a secure shopping environment while delivering excellent customer service. As a Shortage Control Associate (SCA), your presence at store entrances, exits, and high‑risk areas directly reduces theft and enhances the overall shopping experience.

You will engage with customers and associates in a confident, friendly, and energetic manner, exhibiting a positive impression of control. Your discipline, situational awareness, and commitment to safety standards are critical as you monitor the entrance throughout each shift.

• Maintain a professional appearance, wearing the designated dress standards, radio, and earpiece.
• Stand positioned at the front of the store, remaining vigilant and aware of your surroundings.
• Greet every customer with a warm smile and a loud, friendly greeting to promote a sense of control and security.
• Create a secure environment and reduce opportunities for theft.

• Possess mastery of top shortage areas and support programs aimed at theft reduction.
• Communicate theft‑prevention information during store rallies and collaborate with the Manager on Duty.
• Conduct bag and package checks on store and corporate associates, ensuring adherence to safety and security standards.
• Understand your role in keeping the store and assets safe and secure.

• Provide training support to associates on shortage‑reduction programs and processes.
• Role‑model safety as a top priority and address any unsafe practices promptly.

• 1+ years of customer service, hospitality, retail, asset protection, loss prevention, or operations experience is preferred.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and visually monitor the store environment.
• Maintain confidentiality is required.
• Analyze and comprehend business trends.
• Exhibit a positive demeanor, strong posture, and energetic greeting.
• Work in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment with detailed focus and disciplined decision‑making.
• Excellent communication with customers and co‑workers.

Base Pay: $14.20 per hour

Part‑time associates, based on hours worked, may be eligible for Burlington’s benefits package, including medical coverage and a 401(k) plan. They may also qualify for up to 4 hours of paid time off annually after one year of service, up to 8 paid holidays, and paid sick time while complying with applicable law. Competitive wage, flexible hours, and an associate discount are also included.
