Position Summary
A Sales Development Representative supports a commercial region or customer segment. The role serves as the principal CMA CGM contact for all customer rate inquiries for either import or export cargo, maintains understanding of trade lanes to effectively grow market share, partners with field sales, provides quotations, organizes and expedites customer contracts, and resolves issues to reduce service failures.
Functions & Duties- Overall knowledge of import and export services and ability to negotiate rates with trade/line management.
- Collaborate with field sales to promote trade/line initiatives, conduct market research, gather competitive intelligence, qualify sales leads via NOVA Business, develop customer and trade‑lane business plans, and submit customer credit applications.
- Arrange and communicate trade/line rate request quotes through the company’s CRM system, forecast customer volume, and structure contract proposals for trade approval and filing.
- Produce and analyze sales reports.
- Collaborate with sales/trade/line management on expiring bullets, MQC shortfalls, and expiring contracts.
- Establish priorities and organize time effectively.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Attention to detail and professional demeanor with internal and external customers.
- Build and maintain professional relationships.
- Working knowledge of commercial and financial terminology of international trade.
- Proven computer literacy in Microsoft Office suite.
- Ability to work under pressure and resolve customer issues promptly.
- Determine client needs and accommodate them effectively.
- Problem‑solve and find solutions to customer issues.
- Multitask effectively, work well with others, and be culturally sensitive.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- 1‑3 years of inside sales, sales, or customer service experience required; 2 years minimum for the role.
- 1‑3 years of transportation industry experience preferred; at least 1 year minimum.
Expected salary range: $62,000 - $65,000 per year. Additional benefits may include performance‑based bonuses, comprehensive health insurance, retirement plans, tuition repayment, paid time off, and professional development opportunities.
