Position: District Sales Manager - Surgical (Atlanta)

A Day in the Life

Remote but requires residence within the territory and driving to multiple accounts. A valid driver's license is essential.

Responsibilities
  • Hire, develop, and retain talent to create a culture of execution and performance through field coaching and field visit follow‑up.
  • Build and advance a District Sales business plan and forecast to meet and/or exceed sales quotas while driving market growth.
  • Talent Management
    :
    Ensure each seller meets and/or exceeds sales objectives through coaching and development.
  • Manage P&L Budget
    : govern financial activities within allocated budgets and make discretionary spending decisions.
  • Cultivate and maintain key customer relationships with 3‑5 key stakeholders, including KOLs and senior supply chain administrators.
  • Partner across businesses with Surgical Leaders, Strategic Accounts Directors, and Enterprise teams to drive a unified sales strategy.
  • Collaborate with internal teams such as Marketing, Finance, and Product Development to align strategies based on market insights.
Success Metrics
  • Achieve district and strategic product quota by growing market share and reducing churn.
  • Maintain performance consistency across quarters.
  • Ensure pricing and contract compliance/discipline.
  • Develop and retain high‑potential talent with a clear succession pipeline.
  • Manage pipeline opportunities and improve forecasting accuracy.
Alignment & Focus Areas
  • Oversee a full U.S. Surgical Portfolio including stapling, energy, electrosurgery, wound closure, and hernia‑related products.
  • Align with key customer and territory stakeholders such as SAM, GYN, HS, SOS, and RSS.
  • Drive sales in FY26 focus products:
    Signia Shells, Liga Save Exact, Core Suture, Progrip, and more.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Promote and sell Medtronic's Minimally Invasive Therapies products and services within an assigned geographic area to meet or exceed sales targets.
  • Develop and strengthen long‑term relationships with stakeholders including key opinion leaders and major medical associations.
  • Pursue leads, assess needs, and provide product services to maximize benefits from hardware and services.
  • Collaborate across key internal stakeholder groups (finance, sales operations, marketing, OEM) to address trends and support business goals.
  • Conduct and evaluate market research including customer and competitor activities.
  • Develop and implement market development plans and adjust as needed.
  • Communicate customer needs and feedback regarding new products or modifications to existing products to internal stakeholders.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant sales experience or advanced degree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant sales and leadership experience.
Nice to Have
  • Experience with Medtronic Surgical Sales or external sales within surgery.
  • Successful completion of a Medtronic leadership development program or Regional Manager training program.
  • Previous people leadership experience.
  • Business acumen and knowledge of Energy and Surgical Devices markets and ability to analyze regional sales potential.
