The Business Development Representative (BDR) sells Poolcorp’s value proposition to pool builders, service providers, and retailers, playing a key role in customer retention, revenue generation, and sales growth.
On a Daily Basis Our Business Development Representative- Develops a strategy to increase sales and profits within the assigned territory across key, opportunity, new, and existing customers.
- Prospects and generates leads through cold calling, networking, referrals, and online research; follows up on qualified sales leads.
- Builds and maintains relationships with customers, becoming a go‑to advisor.
- Plans and executes daily scheduled sales calls with defined objectives for the assigned book of business.
- Travels within the designated territory to deliver sales presentations and product demonstrations addressing customer needs.
- Negotiates terms, closes sales, and handles post‑sale support, ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Coordinates sales efforts with corporate marketing initiatives and incentives.
- Attends industry events, trade shows, and networking opportunities to expand the customer base and stay informed on market trends.
- Provides quotes and product data promptly and accurately.
- Develops relationships with Poolcorp region and division leadership and vendor representatives to achieve individual and broader goals.
- Maintains all customer records in the CRM system, completing reports and call records timely.
- Stays current on competitor activities, market conditions, and industry trends through ongoing research and analysis.
- At least 2 years’ experience in professional‑level B2B sales.
- A proven track record of successful sales in a wholesale distribution environment.
- Ability to cold call prospective clients.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to build trust and long‑term relationships.
- Knowledge of industry products and distribution processes.
- Self‑motivation and ability to work independently.
- Ample knowledge of product lines such as pool equipment, plumbing supplies, tile, decking, exterior lighting, patio furniture, construction materials, chemicals, landscaping/irrigation supplies, HVAC supplies, or similar goods.
- Proficiency with Microsoft CE or other CRM systems and the Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel).
- Familiarity with Prelude or similar inventory management software is preferred.
- A valid driver’s license, satisfactory driving record (no more than 2 violations within 3 years) and willingness to travel regularly within a designated area.
- Occasional ability to lift and move up to 75 pounds at the sales center or customer site.
- Minimum age 21 years or older to apply.
