College/Department InformationImmunology Center of Georgia (IMMCG) is a new initiative by the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University focused on leveraging the immune system to combat disease, with research teams tackling cardiovascular disease, obesity and metabolic disorders, autoimmune and infectious disease, neurodegenerative disease, and cancer.
Job SummaryAherrahrou's lab, located at the Immunology Center of Georgia, applies in-silico, in-vitro, and in-vivo methods to further unravel the genetics of cardiovascular diseases. The lab works with large datasets and participates in national and international collaborations.
Responsibilities- Interest in or have a good command of bioinformatics or computational biology.
- Application of GWAS, molecular QTL, precision medicine, Single-cell RNA and ATACseq, Single-cell CRISPR screening techniques.
- Genetics and biology of cardiovascular diseases.
- Collaborating with computational and wet-lab biologists for mechanism elucidation.
- Preparing written and oral presentations of results for the team and the public.
- Supervising staff and students.
- Maintaining and organizing large amounts of genetic data and summary statistics.
- Perform all other job-related duties as assigned.
- Ph.D. degree from an accredited college or university.
- Ph.D. in computational biology (bioinformatics, genomics, etc.) or related field.
Knowledge
:
Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.
Skills
:
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Abilities
:
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Shift: Days;
Monday − Friday (work outside normal business hours may be required).
Salary:
To be commensurate with qualifications within the established range (generally minimum-midpoint) of the position.
This position is fully/partially funded through external sources. Continued employment is contingent upon availability of funds.
