At Bayer Crop Science Deutschland GmbH in Borken, Germany, we are looking for a dedicated Product Design Scientist. In this multi-disciplinary role, you will leverage genomic, phenomic, and environmental data to design improved germplasm. You are expected to deliver enhanced seed products, data insights, and prescriptions to the Product Development pipeline through accelerated breeding schemes and innovations in genomics, quantitative genetics, computational biology, and functional genomics.
YOURTASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- You execute the technical strategy to design improved germplasm cohorts, aligned with Product Concept targets
- You leverage model outputs to achieve measurable improvement of quantitative traits under selection
- You foster strong collaborative relationships with various internal and external teams to deliver a robust product pipeline
- You ensure meaningful knowledge and data transfer during transition points, adhering to crop cycle timelines
- You identify key areas for new technology implementation and process improvement, contributing to an innovative culture
- You support Health, Safety & Environment, Compliance, Business Conduct, and Human Rights policies and culture
- You hold a PhD in Genetics, Plant Breeding, Quantitative Genetics, Bioinformatics, Statistics, Data Science, or a related scientific field with first experience in the relevant field, or an MS degree with several years of experience in breeding programs, genetics, or applied data science projects
- You have demonstrated experience working collaboratively in cross‑functional and cross‑cultural teams
- You possess proven experience in leading and influencing cross‑functional teams without direct reporting relationships
- You have the ability to lead and influence key stakeholders through challenges and opportunities, facilitating solutions
- You are results‑oriented with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
- You are familiar with and have a demonstrated ability to perform data analysis with large biological datasets
- Furthermore, you are fluent in English, both written and spoken;
German proficiency is advantageous
