ResponsibilitiesResponsible for the synthesis and characterization of molecules related to research into the possible origins of nucleic acids and polypeptides. Synthetic protocols will include both solution-phase and solid-state methods. Characterization will include collecting and interpreting data from HPLC, Mass Spectrometry, NMR spectroscopy, and Circular Dichroism. You will also take part in the advising of students and postdoctoral researchers who are involved in organic synthesis.
Documentation of experimental results, participation in the writing of scientific manuscripts, and grant proposals will also be part of this position.
- Master’s Degree and eleven (11) years of relevant full-time experience
- Doctorate Degree and seven (7) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of Bachelor's
- Clear evidence of consistent performance in the making of original and innovative contributions that are nationally recognized
- Leadership in developing and managing a technical thrust
- Substantial service contributions
- Broad recognition of technical stature
- The ability to teach and mentor a multifaceted student body
- The ability to promote a welcoming educational/work environment
- The ability to mentor and assist students interested in pursuing graduate education
- The ability to design and teach curricula that are responsive to all students
