ENVIRONMENTAL COMPLIANCE FIELD SPECIALIST (South Central Region)

This position is office‑based with a Georgia Power office location for the South‑Central region. The incumbent will primarily serve the South‑Central Region, providing support across service areas including:
Macon, Forest Park, Plant Scherer, Noah's Ark, Sand's Place, Central, MDC‑Jackson, and Tifton.

The Environmental Field Specialist supports Georgia Power’s environmental compliance programs, ensuring current obligations are met and preparing for future needs. Responsibilities include governance support, communications, program implementation (including Enablon), training, mitigation guidance, and related functions.

• BS or BA in a science or related field ( Environmental Science, Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Management, Engineering, etc.) or equivalent work experience.
• 3 to 5 years of experience in environmental compliance, project management, or related areas such as Air, Land, Water, Waste, CCR, power generation, transmission, distribution, emergency response, or regulatory compliance.
• Commitment to business and personal ethics.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills with influence ability.
• Strong judgment and problem‑solving skills to analyze and resolve regulatory issues promptly.
• Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
• Experience coordinating, planning, and delivering training, communications, and guidance on processes.
• Proficiency with technologies and databases such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Enablon, and report generation.
• Commitment to safety excellence and health and wellness promotion.
• Ability to prioritize multiple assignments with competing deadlines and to work independently without direct supervision.
• Flexible schedule that may include non‑traditional hours and travel across the state.

• Build and maintain relationships with internal customers and peers to ensure environmental policy and procedure understanding and active compliance across facilities.
• Provide training and support for EMS, EMIS, and Enablon, serving as an expert user of Enablon.
• Identify and communicate best practices for continuous improvement and share insights with field specialists.
• Facilitate communication between sites and environmental media as needed.
• Lead new site pilots and support adoption of EMIS throughout the process.
• Provide risk identification and continuous improvement through informal programmatic reviews of internal processes and procedures.
• Obtain and maintain certifications (e.g., DOT, RCRA, HAZWOPER) as assigned.
• Act as a knowledgeable spokesperson on environmental matters for internal and external stakeholders.
• Serve as the primary support contact for a defined region and assist other field specialists as necessary.

• At least one year of verifiable driving experience and a valid driver’s license for the vehicle class to be operated.
• No revocation of driving privileges within 36 months prior to application and no major traffic violations within 12 months prior to application.
• Consent to Motor Vehicle Driver’s Record Monitoring via GPC Fleet Management.
