POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is under the direct supervision of the Shift Supervisor for assigned shift of the Critical Infrastructure Facility Security Officers (CIFSO) and is responsible for protection of facilities. Officers will enforce regulations to prevent breaches of security while exercising discretion and judgment when responding to situations.

Core Duties Include:

Perform a variety of security-related duties, depending on the posts to which they are assigned. Security guards shall answer questions and provide directions to visitors and building tenants. Typical duties include processing visitors by verifying identification, enforce property rules and regulations, contact agency sponsors or escorts, fabricating and issuing visitor passes, entering and maintaining data on visitor logs or automated visitor data base programs, detect and report criminal acts, and ensuring visitors are presented for appropriate personnel and package screening.

Additional duties include prevent, discover, delay, and/or detain persons attempting to gain unauthorized access to property and/or personnel at the facility being protected.

Additionally, security guards will be responsible for operating all security equipment on post, such as batons, OC Spray, X-ray machines, magnetometers, closed circuit television (CCTV), handcuffs, and (where required by post assignment) firearm at any time while on duty.

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications at Entry: Additional qualifications may be specified and receive preference, depending upon the nature of the position.

Basic Qualifications
  • U.S. citizenship preferred.
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
Education | Experience
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Previous military or Law enforcement or three (3) years armed security or associates degree in a related field
Background Prerequisites

Must undergo and meet company standards for background and reference checks, controlled substance testing, may need to meet Physical examination requirements per assignment and behavioral selection survey, in addition to any mandatory licensing requirements.

Competencies (as demonstrated through experience, training, and/or testing):
  • Must be able to meet and continue to meet any applicable state, county and municipal licensing requirements.
  • Must be able to meet and continue to meet requirements for specific skills, certifications or authorizations specified for the assigned site.
  • Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagrammatic form and the ability to write routine correspondence, including logs and reports.
  • Ability to follow established procedures and policies. Post orders to include enforcement of client/company rules, policies, and/or regulations.
  • Excellent attention to detail, good verbal and written communications, including legible report writing.
  • Ability to provide high quality customer service. Courteous telephone manner: good interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively at various social levels and across diverse cultures.
  • Ability to analyze and produce course of action reporting and escalate issues to management in typical and crisis situations.
  • Ability to see, hear, and smell in order to respond to alarms and detect emergency situations.
  • Must be reliable and possess a strong work ethic.
  • Reliable transportation and current Driver's License
