Director, Corporate Security
Provides platform‑level management of QTS corporate security operations, ensuring the protection of employees, technologies, facilities, equipment, products and services. The Director leads a team of security professionals and contractors, standardizes security posture, and reports to the SVP, Corporate Security.
Responsibilities- Directly manage and lead Regional Security Managers and assist in hiring new Security Managers across the enterprise.
- Develop and maintain policies, procedures, Basis of Design (BOD) documents and standards to execute portfolio physical security strategies.
- Communicate updates on incidents, emerging risks and other security issues to key partners and business units.
- Partner with facilities and other QTS units to identify safety and security deficiencies and develop customized policies to achieve regulatory compliance.
- Oversee election of guard force, penetration testing vendors, and other security service providers.
- Establish and monitor performance metrics for the security team and deliver training on security topics.
- Support incident investigations, audits and compliance controls (ISO 27001, HITRUST, SOC 1/2, PCI, etc.).
- Perform data analysis and create benchmarking for risk assessments and threat identification.
- Assist in monthly, quarterly and annual budget forecasting and budget management.
- Lead readiness assessments for new or existing sites, and update BOD for all sites.
- Participate in and lead SECOPS/FACOPS, Technical and Security Assessment Working Groups and host global security meetings.
- Maintain relationships with law enforcement, fire and EMS agencies and execute emergency response plans.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent professional experience.
- 10+ years of security operations experience in a fast‑paced corporate environment.
- 10+ years in a management or security advisor role.
- 10+ years with security technologies (CCTV, access control, incident management systems, SOC).
- Familiarity with emergency procedure protocols and regulatory interfaces.
- Demonstrated expertise in physical security strategies, principles, standards and policies.
- Experience conducting investigations (criminal, HR, safety incidents).
- Ability to walk, stand and sit for 8‑12 hours per day.
- Must travel regionally, nationally and internationally (up to 25% annually).
- CPP and/or PSP certification.
- 15+ years experience in data center security design.
- Experience in emergency/disaster management, critical incident stress management, risk management and business resiliency.
- Certification in Insider Threat programs and procedures.
- Continuous process improvement experience and strong Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Project) skills.
