Job Summary
The Security Services Supervisor is responsible for the overall supervision of Public Safety operations with the Public Safety program of the Grady Health System during their designated shift. The incumbent is additionally responsible for planning, delegating, staffing, training, counseling, and controlling shift operations. The incumbent will manage the shift in the absence of the shift manager. Must be flexible to work days, evenings, or night shifts.
Job Responsibilities- Responsible for the personal safety and security of employees, physicians, patients, and visitors in the Grady Health System and on the Grady Campus during their assigned shift.
- Operate Grady Health System vehicles while on duty. Perform other duties as assigned set forth by the department.
- Assist the Shift Manager in delegating work, responsibility, and authority, in order that subordinates can maximize the use of their abilities.
- Employ appropriate hand‑holds, handcuffing techniques, and authorized restraints in order to contain and/or eliminate illegal or disruptive conduct.
- Carry a department‑regulated firearm as required.
- Assist in the development and implementation of solutions to day‑to‑day shift operational problems.
- Ensure that qualified personnel are available to staff positions in day‑to‑day operations.
- Assist the Shift Manager in teaching individuals and teams how to do their jobs. Support the departmental training program.
- Assist with developing better methods and procedures to ensure quality and increase shift productivity. Fulfill responsibility in the face of emotional stress and pressing demands.
- Assist the Shift Manager in measuring progress and taking corrective action when needed to achieve shift objectives.
- High School diploma or GED is required.
- Three (3) years of military, law enforcement, or armed security experience are required.
- Must successfully complete a behavioral evaluation including fitness to carry a firearm.
- Must have a current exposé firearms license through the Georgia Board of Private Detectives and Security Agencies.
- Must be eligible to obtain both an exposed and concealed weapon permit within six months.
- Must have a current valid Georgia driver's license, and an insurable driving record.
- Exhibit professional, service‑oriented interaction with hospital and clinic staff, patients and visitors.
