- GS‑7: $43,106 – $56,039
- GS‑9: $52,727 – $68,549
- GS‑10: $58,064 – $75,479
- GS‑11: $63,795 – $82,938
- U.S. citizen
- At least 21 years of age
- Pass Police Officer Selection System (POSS) written test and panel interview (applicant pays travel)
- Pass a U.S. Government physical exam
- Have or obtain a valid driver’s license
- Proficient with firearm and other weapon systems
- Obtain Top Secret clearance
- Complete a Financial Disclosure Form
- Attend training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) in Glynco, GA (exceptions may be made)
- Accept the service agreement for a two‑year period
- Willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays (shift work)
- Provide public safety by maintaining order, responding to emergencies, protecting people and property, enforcing motor‑vehicle and criminal laws, and promoting community relations.
- Monitor, record, report, and investigate suspicious persons, situations, safety hazards, and illegal activity.
- Identify, pursue, and arrest suspects involved in criminal acts.
- Investigate traffic accidents and other incidents to determine causes and potential criminality.
- Record facts to prepare incident reports.
- Screen vehicles for explosive devices at stationary posts.
- Respond to alarm situations, safeguard information, and protect civil rights.
Applicants will be evaluated by the FBI’s Candidate Rating Procedures, comparing resume content and competency statements to the qualifications listed below.

Specialized Experience required varies by grade level (GS‑7 to GS‑11). Applicants must provide evidence of at least one year of experience equivalent to the grade below for each level, or meet the education requirements as described.
