Fleet Mechanic

Summary

Performs maintenance related repairs on all District-owned vehicles as assigned.

• Repairs and services all District vehicles
• Performs extensive monthly inspections on all vehicles in the school fleet
• Performs on-the-road service calls for all District vehicles
• Signs for all parts and materials issued by the parts manager and for service rendered to vehicles
• Maintains fuel and oil levels in District vehicles
• Performs other duties as assigned by the appropriate administrator

High School Diploma or GED equivalent

• Valid Driver License required
• Must be insurable by Fulton County Board of Education
• Possession of a valid Class B Commercial Driver License with passenger, S, and air brake endorsements preferred

None required;
Some experience as a mechanic preferred

• Excellent driving record
• Must have basic computer skills
• Good communication skills both written and verbal

• Hazardous physical conditions
• Exposure to mechanical parts, electrical currents
• Exposure to fumes, odors, dust, grease
• Exposure to extreme heat or cold and extreme weather conditions
• Exposure to extreme noise levels

• Ability to exert up to 100 lbs of force occasionally and/or up to 50 lbs
• Requires balancing, stooping, kneeling, bending, reaching, grasping, feeling, repetitive motions
