The Lattice Crane Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient execution of critical lift operations within a high-volume heavy civil environment. This position functions as a technical lead on the job site, bridging the gap between engineered lift plans and physical execution.
The role encompasses the entire lifecycle of a lift—from technical load calculation and rigging verification to the precision placement of heavy structural components.
KeyDuties & Responsibilities
- Precision Lifting
:
Execute complex lifts involving deep foundation piles, large-scale precast concrete members, and structural steel. - Production Concrete
:
Lead consistent, high-volume concrete placements with tight tolerances. - Technical Calculation
:
Independently calculate load weights, capacities, and centers of gravity to ensure every lift is within the 75%–85% chart range (or as specified). - Machine Stewardship
:
Perform daily pre-op/post-op inspections and operator-level maintenance (greasing, fluid management) on the Kobelco unit and all rigging gear. - Site Synergy
:
Maintain flawless radio and hand‑signal communication with ground crews and rigging foremen in a fast‑paced environment.
- Mandatory Certification: Must possess a current and valid NCCCO certification with LAT (Lattice Boom Truck),
LBC (Lattice Boom Crawler), or LBT (Lattice Boom Truck) designations. - Heavy Civil Pedigree: Proven experience operating large-capacity crawler cranes (150‑ton+). Preference is given to those with a background in large‑scale infrastructure, bridge work, or deep foundations.
- Technical Proficiency: Expert-level knowledge of load charts, operating limits, and the execution of Critical Lift Plans.
- Safety Mindset: Advanced situational awareness with a strong commitment to safety standards.
- Compliance: Must be authorized to work in the U.S. and capable of passing a pre‑employment drug screen and physical.
