Job SummaryConstruct, maintain, and remodel buildings or related structures. Install, fix, or modify all aspects of a building, including walls, ceilings, floors, and stairs, as well as related structures like railings, doors, windows, and air conditioning systems. Follow blueprints and plans to ensure requirements and specifications are met. Observe all worksite safety procedures and guidelines. Inspect buildings to determine repairs that need to be done.
Typically requires a high school diploma and five years of related experience.
- Work under minimal supervision to construct, erect, install, and repair structures and fixtures throughout campus, ensuring projects are completed and in good working order.
- Prepare for campus carpentry projects by ensuring proper tools, equipment, and supplies are available at the job site.
- Perform and complete indoor and outdoor general maintenance and repair projects throughout campus, including responding to flooded buildings due to adverse weather events and other emergency repair situations.
- Clean equipment, tools, and shop area, including disposing of hazardous products to maintain a safe and operational work area.
- Train, assist, or assign tasks to other lower‑level carpenter positions, as needed.
- Perform all other related duties as assigned.
High School diploma or GED from a recognized state or federal accredited organization with four years of experience, or an Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university. Valid driver’s license and ability to operate Augusta University vehicles.
Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesModerate level of knowledge in carpentry and general construction skills.
Shift / Salary / BenefitsShift: Days/M‑F
Pay Band: 8
Salary: $21.83 /hour – $23.16 /hour (commensurate with qualifications within the established range, generally minimum‑midpoint)
Recruitment Period: 11/07/25 – Until Filled
Benefits may include health, dental, and life insurance;
Teachers Retirement System (or Optional Retirement Plan); earned vacation time, sick leave, and 13 paid holidays. Full‑time employees eligible for the Tuition Assistance Program after six months of employment.
All selected candidates must successfully pass a background check review prior to starting with Augusta University. Where applicable, a credit check may be required for Positions of Trust or approved departmental Purchase Card usage. Motor vehicle reports are required for positions that require driving Augusta University vehicles. Candidates must also adhere to cybersecurity and privacy policies.
Driver’s License StatementThe Human Resources Division will request a driver’s history report for the top candidate(s). The selected candidate must have a valid driver’s license.
