Facilities Services is responsible for maintaining a safe, healthy, and aesthetically pleasing environment to support the university community, including interior/exterior facilities support, construction, space management, and environmental services.

Maintains, services, and conducts minor repairs on buildings and equipment. Performs a variety of semiskilled duties in plumbing, carpentry, electrical, painting, or plastering. Assists maintenance engineers and other workers. Complies with safety guidelines. May require a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Works under moderate supervision. Gains or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline.

• Under limited supervision, performs basic general maintenance and repairs to campus buildings and other facilities throughout the university.
• Performs inspections and routine maintenance, troubleshoots and repairs various building environmental systems and components including heating, cooling, and ventilation systems. Coordinates with supervisors to schedule repairs and maintenance needs.
• Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain building plumbing systems including domestic hot and cold and sanitary sewer systems. Includes replacing fixtures, repairing leaks, replacing piping, clearing drains, and cleaning areas affected by leaks.
• Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain building electrical and lighting systems. Includes lighting elements, ballasts, devices, fan motors, and circuit breakers. Provides routine maintenance such as replacing bulbs, ballasts, and batteries.
• Perform basic carpentry tasks such as door repair and replacement, window repair and replacement, casework and signage repair and replacement.
• Maintain indoor and outdoor surfaces in regard to painting structures, cleaning surfaces, pressure washing, painting, and material repair and replacement.
• Install, repair, and replace flooring and carpet.
• May be responsible for training, assisting, or assigning tasks to other lower level general maintenance positions.
• Perform all other duties/tasks as required.

Required:

High School diploma or GED from a recognized State or Federal accredited organization with three years of experience or an Associate's degree from an accredited college or university; valid driver's license.

Required Qualifications:

Moderate level of knowledge in general building maintenance and construction skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Electrical Contractor (non-restricted) license from the State of Georgia; six or more years of applicable electrical maintenance and/or construction experience; technical school diploma in electrical or electronic fields.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases
• Excellent interpersonal, customer service, written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematic drawings, and technical instructions

Shift: Days; 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday with mandatory overtime which can include holidays, weekends, and after-hours.

Pay Band: 8

Salary Minimum: $21.83/hour

Salary to be commensurate with qualifications within the established range.
