Compensation & Schedule
  • Hourly Pay: $24.22 per hour
  • Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE Certification up to $700
  • Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 every quarter – four times per year
  • Schedule:

    Sunday through Thursday
  • Hours:

    First Shift 7:00 am – 3:30 pm

Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Zero to one (1) year mechanical experience with diesel engines preferred
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Proficiency in English written and verbal communication
  • Demonstrated customer service skills
  • Strong technical aptitude with ability to learn and maintain equipment and machinery preferred
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems quickly
  • Work independently and as part of a team
  • Represent Ryder professionally and engage employees and customers
  • Time‑management and priority‑setting skills
  • Good attendance and performance record
  • Accountability and proven results
  • Basic computer skills and Microsoft Office proficiency
  • Beginner knowledge of machines and tools (designs, use, repair, maintenance)
  • Beginner knowledge of shop management systems
  • Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred
  • DOT safety regulated position; regulated tech
  • Safety‑sensitive position; age and work hour requirements per state law
Regulated Tech Requirements
  • Must obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
  • Pass a Ryder drug test
  • Pass a DOT physical
  • Pass a Ryder road test
  • Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check including drug and alcohol verification from the last 3 years
Responsibilities
  • Move heavy‑duty vehicles into or out of yard, wash bay, service shop, or rental shop; wash and detail vehicles manually or using automated equipment; fuel diesel, natural gas, and hybrid vehicles while adhering to shop safety policies and procedures; record fuel activity and maintain proper fuel and DEF inventories and reconciliation using handheld devices.
  • Perform multi‑point inspections on inbound units: check tire pressure and tread, fluid levels, lights, wash windows, change tires, inspect refrigeration units on trucks, report service or driver issues to shop.
  • Maintain fuel island area to Six Sigma standards and policies; perform minor maintenance tasks as assigned.
  • Attend and complete all Technician Training Development Program requirements and assessments. Training includes hands‑on and online training and performing tasks learned. Program components:
    Service Island Training (Multi‑point Inspection, Vehicle Fueling and Washing, Environmental Safety & Spill Response, Safe Driving, Service Island Organization & Cleanliness – 6S), Technician I Training (Preventive Maintenance, Tire and Wheel, Service Bay Tool), Technician II Training (HD Electrical, Air and Hydraulic Brakes).
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
