Job Description SummaryThe HVAC Engineer is responsible for oversight and proper operation and maintenance of all mechanical systems and equipment including chillers, cooling towers, fans, pumps, heat exchangers, ancillary support equipment, water treatment, controls and BMS/EMS.
Job DescriptionESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform maintenance and repairs on all mechanical equipment and systems.
- Conduct building tours, maintain equipment logs, and report deficiencies for corrective action.
- Respond to all HVAC trouble calls and troubleshoot systems to meet operational and comfort needs of building occupants.
- Be proficient in the functionality of the BMS/EMS and understand the sequences required for proper building, equipment and system operations.
- Work with engineers, contractors and consultants to evaluate the proper operation of building systems.
- Troubleshoot HVAC equipment and controls to determine problems and perform necessary repairs.
- Maintain HVAC equipment as part of the facilities preventive maintenance program.
- Perform other related duties as assigned, assist other tradesmen, and carry out emergency repairs.
- Adhere to established HVAC work order preventive maintenance schedule.
- Complete work in accordance with C&W Services Business Systems Standard Operating Procedures and work instructions.
- Create and maintain all operational SOPs for site‑specific equipment and systems.
- Ability to work in a team or with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to work various shifts, including nights and weekends.
- Minimum of two to five years in a commercial building with field experience performing preventive maintenance.
- Must hold EPA Universal and Freon reclaim certifications and OSHA certification.
- Education or training in HVAC and controls. Knowledge of HVAC components.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative while also functioning as a member of a team with other trades.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Prior history with preventive maintenance and ability to operate a variety of tools and mechanical systems.
- Required to bend, reach, and hold awkward positions for prolonged periods.
- Must lift up to 50 lbs. and often lift and transport equipment in excess of 200 lbs. with assistance.
- Requires good vision, hearing, and smelling.
- Must physically work alone, climb consecutive sets of stairs, and work off ladders, staging, lifts, etc.
- May work in confined spaces, stoops, bends, hands and knees for extended periods.
- Walk to and from various buildings carrying tools, equipment, and other essentials to the job site.

The compensation that will be offered to the successful candidate will depend on factors such as whether the position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement, the geographic area in which the work will be performed, market pay rates in that area, and the candidate’s experience and qualifications. The company will not pay less than minimum wage for this role. The compensation for the position is: $32.30 - $38.00.
