Role Overview
Johnson Controls is seeking skilled HVAC Mechanics to support the fast‑growing HVAC business in North America. You will work on light and heavy commercial teams, performing maintenance, repair, and replacement services on commercial heating, cooling, and refrigeration systems.
Responsibilities- Perform maintenance, repair, and replacement services on commercial HVACR systems.
- Work with Journeymen on the repair of centrifugal, steam turbines, and open‑drive screw chillers.
- Act as a trusted advisor to customers by providing solutions and outcomes during commissioning and aftermarket service.
- Provide quotes to support recommendations and upselling opportunities.
- Use vibration equipment and dial indicators for troubleshooting driving lines and mechanical shafts.
- Adhere to safety protocols and prioritize safety in all activities.
- Support the service academy with factory certification and monetary rewards.
- Participate in JCI’s Service Plus Rewards program.
- Minimum of three (3) years of commercial/industrial HVAC mechanical troubleshooting experience.
- Experience with rooftop units, pumps, fans, towers, boilers, chillers, compressors, and plumbing.
- Member of or willing to join the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry of the United States and Canada, AFL‑CIO.
- Pass a knowledge examination to assess proficiencies.
- Willingness to travel 10% to 20% for support of branch customers, troubleshooting, installation, and repair.
- Universal EPA refrigerants license, applicable state or local licensing, and a valid driver’s license.
- Self‑starter with a passion to learn and apply on the job.
- Excellent interpersonal, digital, and written communication skills.
Pay: $41.18 hourly rate, determined by the CBA/rate sheet. This is a Bargaining Unit Position. Benefits are provided through a local labor union aligned with a collective bargaining agreement. Incentive programs and a #1 focus on employee safety are also available.
