OVERVIEW
Leads and assists in the construction, installation, and maintenance of communications towers and support structures and related telecommunications equipment. Leads by example to facilitate timely job completion. Tower Technicians work irregular hours, travel frequently, and work at great heights in extreme weather conditions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Climbsandworksoncommunicationstowers forthepurposeofinstalling,replacing,andrepairingantennasystemsequipment
- Thebasicuseandcareofhandtoolsandmechanicalequipment
- Safety Management-ensurescrewmembersareincompliancewithcompanyandcustomersafetyrequirements
- Verifiesandensuresalltoolsand rigging gear aresafe touse
- Completesrequireddaily Job Safety Analysis (JSA’s)
- Executesandmanages,if required
- Knows the hazards associated with tower climbing, construction equipment, and working on or nearenergizedlinesand equipment
- Theabilitytoclimbtallstructures(100 feetormore) with
50lb.load - Fullunderstandingofajob orproject Scopeof Work(SOW)
- Abilitytodevelopandwriteadetailed Methodof Procedure (MOP) forajob/project
- Analyzessituationsaccuratelyandadoptanappropriatecourseofaction
- Solidcommunicationskills, bothorallyandinwriting
- Followsinstructionsaccuratelyandcompleteassignedcourse ofaction
- Recognizessafetyhazards andperformingdutiesinasafemanner
- Maintains clean,orderlyenvironmentadheringtocompanypoliciesandindustryregulation/standard(s)(OSHA)
Experiencedwithcustomtowerriggingtechniques.
Performstapedrops - Proficientwithalltestequipment(sweeps,PIM,fibertestingetc.)PerformsGPSantennaalignment(SunsightAAT)
Proficientwithinstallationofantennas,RRH’s,ground kits,RETsystems - TroubleshootingRETsystems–bottom.
Runsrequiredlinestotopofthetower;groundscoaxlinesandbuildsdifferentsizesandtypesofconnectors.
Stacks towers,installssectormounts - Basicknowledgeofmicrowavedishandradio installations
Recognizessafetyhazards andperformsdutiesinasafemanner - Abilitytoleada4-mantowercrewsafelyandwithinestablishedbudgetaryrequirements
- Ensuresjobsarecompletedfully,meetallcompanyandcustomerqualitystandardsandallCOPrequirementsare complying

- Highly organized and be able to effectively report verbally and written reports back to the Tower Foreman
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee is required to walk much of the time. The employee is also occasionally required to sit.
WORK ENVIRONMENTWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts; in high, precarious places; and in outside weather conditions and is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and extreme heat. The employee is frequently exposed to risk of electrical shock and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and extreme cold.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
