What You Will DoThe General Mechanic/Service Shop Technician sets up, repairs, services, diagnoses, performs preventive maintenance, and installs replacement parts on Caterpillar diesel powered construction equipment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Read and interpret technical instructions, service and safety manuals, and company policies and procedures.
- Work with mechanical, hydraulic, and electric/electronic schematics and wiring diagrams; demonstrate proficiency with test equipment.
- Provide high‑quality repair service on equipment and engines, responding to customer needs in a positive, safe, and timely manner to ensure maximum value for work performed.
- Lift up to 25–30 pounds on occasion.
- Work in an environment where hazards may be present.
- Perform frequent hand use for typing, operating the phone, handling materials, and other job‑related tasks.
- Other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications- Work standard five‑day schedules, including daily overtime and occasional weekends.
- Possess a complete set of basic mechanical hand tools (drives, sockets, wrenches).
- Maintain a current, valid state driver’s license; CDL may be required for some field positions.
- Diesel engine, construction equipment, and/or truck engine training through accredited technical schools or relevant military experience preferred; high school diploma or equivalent required.
- Two or more years of hands‑on equipment and/or engine experience, diagnostics and troubleshooting with diesel powered construction equipment or truck engines.
- Technical knowledge of construction equipment and engine mechanical failures.

- Sense of urgency, self‑initiative, and personal drive to be successful.
