Water​/Sewer Utility Worker

• Install, maintain, repair, and replace water meters, water and/or sewer lines and related appurtenances
• Locate manholes, service connections, valves and other utilities
• Assist with the installation/repair of new sewer taps and/or water service lines
• Clear debris from manholes, water and sewer lines, sewer stream crossings, easements, valve boxes, etc.
• Inspect and evaluate the condition of systems; diagnose leaks, blockages, or other problems
• Excavate around water and sewer infrastructure
• Install appropriate repair fittings
• Perform confined space entries into permit-required confined spaces as needed
• Gather tools and equipment needed to complete work activities; pick up and transport materials, tools and supplies
• Perform related activities such as saw cuts of driveways, sidewalks, curbs, and roads during repair
• Assist with the preparation and restoration of landscape, property, and other areas to preconstruction conditions disrupted as a result of repair work
• Adhere to established safety procedures; monitor work environment and use of safety equipment to ensure safety of employees, others, equipment, and property
• Flag and direct traffic and place markers, signs and cones around the project or work site to ensure safety of crew and the traveling public; wear personal protective equipment
• Perform other related duties as assigned

• Detail-oriented and able to follow safety procedures, close and maintain accurate records of work performed
• Possess the aptitude to work with others and take instruction
• Demonstrate skills needed to troubleshoot, quickly diagnose situations, and choose appropriate actions to mitigate the situation
• Ability to perceive and discriminate colors or shades, odors, sounds, depth, texture, and visual cues or signals
• Ability to communicate orally

• High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)
• At least 1 year of related work experience

• Must possess and maintain the following certifications within six months of hire:
  Confined Space Entry, Trenching and Excavation, and Flagger

• Must be able to stand and perform strenuous tasks for hours at a time and meet physical demands that are at levels of those for active work
• Must be able to perform physical labor and move or carry related objects or materials
• Must be physically able to operate a variety of job-related machines

• 100% field environment
• Travel between C.E.R.M. office and various project sites as required
• Available for 24-hour on-call services during a work shift as needed
