Job SummaryPerform installation and maintenance of components used in campus heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems and related equipment, including chilled water, refrigeration, air compressor, gas heater, air drier, fume hoods, and pumps. Provide work direction to lower level mechanics and maintenance personnel and coordinate with maintenance supervision, building managers and vendors. Typically advise and counsel lower level mechanics and maintenance workers.
Responsibilities- Install, repair, replace, operate, maintain, calibrate, test, and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and plumbing components used in HVAC.
- Perform preventive maintenance on HVAC equipment.
- Troubleshoot pneumatic, electrical, and digital controls.
- Purchase and account for HVAC related parts and materials as needed.
- Use specialized computer applications for HVAC work.
- Provide work direction to mechanics and maintenance personnel related to HVAC system installation and maintenance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
Universal CFC Refrigerant Recovery License; ability to work around or on rotating machinery, live electrical circuits, hazardous materials, high‑pressure liquids and gases, and hot surfaces; ability to lift up to 75 pounds; work in confined spaces, noisy environments, and elevated locations inside or outside a building; willingness to work extensive after‑hours or call‑backs; possible respirator use. - Required Experience: Four years of job‑related experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
State of Georgia Unrestricted HVAC License. - Preferred Educational
Qualifications:
Technical Diploma, associate's degree, or two years of college coursework. - Familiarity with JCI digital controls system, including the Metasys platform.
- Experience with Liebert unit operations and controls.
- Experience with VAV box components and CFM calculations.
- Intermediate level (journeyman/master) knowledge of installing and maintaining compressors, fans, bearings, belts, dampers, motors, starters, and controls.
- Knowledge of 208, 200, and 460 induction service, 24‑volt DC service, coils, and piping.
- Ability to read prints, drawings, and schematics using paper copies and computerized software systems.
- Skill in operating machine tools, motor vehicles (including forklifts), hand and power tools, and hydraulic/pneumatic equipment.
- Strong troubleshooting and task sequencing abilities for specific assignments.
- This is not a supervisory position.
