Job SummaryThe Critical Facilities Engineer operates, manages, maintains, and repairs HVAC systems, critical and non‑critical power systems, plumbing, fire control and suppression, roofing, exterior grounds and performs all related vendor support. This role assists with repairs, installations, inspections, and monitoring of building systems—including plumbing, fire suppression, safety systems, and the Building Monitoring System (BMS)—while following established operating procedures. Working with limited daily supervision, the technician partners with senior team members and service providers to support vendor work, maintain accurate site documentation, respond to on‑site incidents, complete work orders, and assist with infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities- Perform moderately difficult preventative and corrective maintenance checks on site to facility components.
- Perform repairs, maintenance, installations and on‑site inspections to facility systems; support energy efficiency measures.
- Monitor the Building Monitoring System (BMS) and resolve alarm issues following standard operating procedures.
- Operate and maintain plumbing, fire suppression, and safety systems.
- Operate critical infrastructures under supervision of more senior technical staff.
- Support vendor work approval process, including approval at start, workday, and final review.
- Cooperate with vendors to modify technical files for plants and equipment.
- Perform site logs for permits such as Maintenance Operation Protocols (MOPs) and scripts.
- Identify single points of failure (SPOFs) and make recommendations.
- Respond to on‑site incidents, including failures, problems and delays.
- Create and complete routine work requests and circuit installations.
- Troubleshoot and maintain office equipment; support auxiliary equipment and machines.
- Make minor changes to mechanical, electrical and specialized systems as directed.
- Carry out infrastructure projects.
- Collaborate with others to resolve facility incidents and mentor team members.
- Provide stakeholders with inventory needs to maintain optimal stock levels of critical parts and equipment.
- Recommend infrastructure projects as needed.
12‑hour night shift. 48 hours one week, 36 hours the next week, rotating.
Qualifications- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training, certification, or coursework is a plus.
- 2+ years of experience in HVAC.
- 2+ years of experience in facilities maintenance, building operations, or a related technical environment.
- Basic working knowledge of facility systems such as mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire suppression, or safety systems.
- Ability to perform preventive and corrective maintenance tasks using standard operating procedures.
- Familiarity with work orders, site documentation, logs, or maintenance protocols.
- Comfortable working with vendors and following established processes to support on‑site maintenance activities.
- Ability to work independently on routine tasks while collaborating effectively with team members.
- Willingness to learn, take guidance from senior technicians, and support infrastructure projects as assigned.
- Basic computer skills and ability to learn systems such as Building Monitoring Systems (BMS).
