Position: Sr. Mobile Diesel Mechanic Tuesday - Saturday

Position Overview

The company is hiring a Sr. Mobile Diesel Technician to perform inspected and maintain light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment. The technician will be responsible for licensed DOT inspections, preventative maintenance, advanced and light repairs, diagnostics, and administrative duties.

Shift

Tuesday – Saturday shifts.

Responsibilities & Duties
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (“PM”), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium and heavy‑duty vehicles.
  • Perform minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment, including electrical/brake/cooling systems, starters/alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines (gas and diesel), transmissions, clutches, differentials, etc.
  • Diagnose, adjust, and repair truck equipment such as electrical/brake/cooling systems, starters/alternators, air‑conditioning systems, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines, transmissions, clutches, differentials, etc.
  • Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges.
  • Road‑test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and ensure proper operation.
  • Identify problems, determine accuracy of information, and generate and evaluate alternatives.
  • Independently manage parts inventory and perform periodic reconciliation.
  • Maintain and operate company‑issued service vehicle, conduct safety checks, and perform pre‑ and post‑trip inspections.
  • Work with and listen to clients and customers to assess needs, provide information, resolve problems, and satisfy expectations.
  • Manage concurrent tasks, prioritizing work activities and time allocations.
  • Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks.
  • Document procedures and upload pictures of work performed, parts used, and findings on Repair Orders using the company‑issued iOS device and proprietary TRAIT application.
  • Accurately complete DOT forms and other documentation in a timely fashion.
  • Work independently, managing own daily schedule.
  • Maintain high productivity and meet standard repair times.
  • Obtain parts from approved vendors as necessary.
  • Communicate with management to obtain approvals on repair estimates, purchase order numbers, and RO findings.
  • Perform all work in compliance with safety, health, environmental policies, and federal regulations (OSHA, EPA, DOT).
  • Maintain service truck with daily safety checks and pre‑/post‑trip inspections.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma/GED with five years of experience in a related field (alternatively a degree beyond HS and three or seven years of experience).
  • Possess necessary hand tools.
  • Obtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within 18 months.
  • Obtain 608/609 certification within 18 months.
  • Pass DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical prior to employment.
  • Have a current DOT medical card with more than four months of validity or provide a DOT physical if less than four months.
  • Be at least 21 years old.
  • Hold a valid driver’s license and maintain a Driver Qualification File.
