Apprentice Ductline Mechanic (ADLM) for Network Underground Services (NUS) – Georgia Statewide
Georgia Power's Network Underground Services (NUS) provides construction and maintenance services for underground electrical systems in multiple Georgia locations. The ADLM positions are located in Atlanta, GA and require the ability to work from the Atlanta office and surrounding areas.
Responsibilities- Assist with construction and maintenance of underground and high‑reliability distribution systems across Georgia.
- Operate cranes, dump trucks, excavating equipment, and other heavy machinery.
- Work safely in enclosed spaces such as manholes, vaults, and tunnels, and in deep excavations requiring proper shoring.
- Learn and follow all safety, quality, and operational procedures.
- Support the team to deliver projects on schedule and with high quality.
The ADLM position is part of a 2‑year Ductline Journeyman Development Program that includes classroom training, skills training, and on‑job training. Successful completion yields Journeyman Ductline Mechanic status.
Qualifications- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic mechanical and electrical aptitude or background.
- Preferred: 1+ year construction, industrial maintenance, utility, military, or electrical experience.
- Experience with heavy equipment, rigging, emergency response, commercial truck driving, farming, or network underground construction is a plus.
- Military experience is a plus.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Valid CDL Class A LOA or permit (or military exception).
- Eligibility to obtain CDL Class A within 6 months of hire.
- Weight limit: 270 pounds or less with full gear.
- Physical ability to lift or drag equipment 50 pounds or more.
- Availability for call‑out duties 50% of requested times, including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Willingness to travel to Georgia for pre‑employment testing and employment physical.
- CAST written exam (Graphic Arithmetic, Mathematical usage, Mechanical Concepts, Reading Comprehension).
- Post‑offer Employment Test (POET) for candidates who receive an offer.
Starting pay: $6,458 month (≈ $37.26 hour). Salary is non‑negotiable.
